Flores Island

Kelimutu lake is without a doubt one of the most beautiful lake in Flores island, Indonesia. This lake is located on top of volcano in Ende.  

Kelimutu is also of interest to geologists because the three lakes have different colors yet are at the crest of the same volcano. It has three caters with different colors in black, blue and white. But it can change sometimes to red or green. 

The residents around the lake believe, “when the lake changed color, they have to give some offerings to the spirits of people those who have died”.

If you want to visit Kelimutu, the closest airports are Maumere, and Ende. There are regular flights to Ende from Bali. The drive from Ende to Moni, the town at the base of Kelimutu where accommodation is available, takes about 3 hours, while from Moni to Kelimutu vehicle park, a 13 kilometers needs 45 minutes.
